Waterlilies
The first waterlilies-painting did not start with the idea to paint these flowers. I just wanted to paint something with spots of black, deep blue and pale blue, together with green and yellow. While sketching, the waterlilies just "grew" by themselves. 
Waterlilies I
In the first one it's as if you look straight into the water. This gave me the idea to make another version. One as if you're looking into the distance. The third version abandons this rather figurative approach. This one consists of flat fields. Playing with depth plays a role in many of my paintings
